Pre-allocation risk assessment

Before capital is committed, we stress how a proposed allocation would have behaved in past drawdowns and where it overlaps with what you already hold.

When to commission this

Use a pre-allocation assessment when you are close to funding a new mandate, fund, or concentrated position and want an independent view of how it would sit beside existing risk — especially drawdown risk.

Deliverable

A concise memo covering:

  • Historical drawdown behaviour of the proposed sleeve where public or manager-provided history exists.
  • Overlap with your current themes, sectors, and factor exposures.
  • Scenarios in which the new allocation would deepen portfolio peak-to-trough loss.
  • Questions worth putting to the manager or adviser before commitment.

Limits

Past drawdowns do not forecast the next one. Where history is thin (new funds, private deals), we state the uncertainty plainly rather than inventing precision. Legal due diligence and KYC remain with your counsel and custodian.

Fee

From £2,400 for a single proposed allocation against one existing book. Bundled assessments for several candidates in the same decision cycle are available on request. Submit a brief.
